History of Meyer Z-52 Zoysia
It was developed and released through cooperation between the Crops Research Division, Agricultural Research Service, and the U.S. Gold Association Green in 1940. It was named after the plant explorer Frank N. Meyer who made the first collection of seeds in Korea in 1950. Meyer Zoysia or Z-52 is an updated and improved selection of Z. Japonica, commonly referenced in newspapers and articles as the “Super” grass.
